About Us
Success is not a privilege — it is a skill that can be learned, practiced, and achieved by anyone.
But without Success Preparedness — the essential life-readiness toolkit — even the most capable students can fall into cycles of adversity.
This realization ignited the creation of EmpowerU — founded while Nivi was still at Harvard — with a mission to build the confidence, competence, and resilience needed for people to succeed in school, at work, and in life.
While EmpowerU welcomes individuals of all ages, the initiative places special focus on youth and women — those who continue to face the steepest barriers to advancement and leadership. Empowering them means empowering future families, stronger communities, and a more equitable tomorrow.
Grounded in decades of community service, educational innovation, and a commitment to societal progress, EmpowerU is not just a program —
it is a movement to Empower, Inspire, and Transform lives by ensuring everyone has a fair chance to shape a successful and purpose-driven future.
Our Mission and Vision
Vision
A future where equity and empowerment enable every person to unlock their fullest potential and lead a meaningful, successful life.
Mission
To provide Success Preparedness through life-skills development, mentorship, and leadership programs that uplift individuals — especially youth and women — enabling them to break cycles of adversity and unlock their full potential in school, work, and life.
EmpowerU was founded by Nivi Panwalker, whose passion for educational equity began long before Harvard. She was already working on a project supporting children of seasonal migrant workers — families who move frequently for labor, forcing children to miss weeks or months of school. When these children finally returned, they were far behind, confused by the rapid changes in curriculum, and lacked the reinforcement needed to stay academically confident.
Over time, many of these children lost motivation and dropped out, not because they lacked talent or dedication, but because they were never given the stability, support, or life-skills required to navigate constant disruption. Determined to understand this problem deeply and solve it effectively, Nivi pursued her advanced studies at Harvard, focusing intentionally on how to empower such students to succeed despite adversity.
During her graduate program, she partnered with the Ministry of Education in Bogotá, Colombia on a capstone project addressing a similar challenge: high dropout rates among marginalized youth who lacked emotional resilience, problem-solving ability, mentorship, and confidence — the very ingredients necessary for long-term success.
Across both experiences, a profound truth emerged:
